Guest-host polymer dispersed liquid crystal display on a single substrate

Display unit, comprising at least one substrate, at least one electronically modulated imaging layer and at least one electrically conductive layer, wherein the electronically modulated imaging layer comprises a self-assembled close-packed, ordered monolayer of domains from guest-host material, the guest-host material comprises a guest from a comprising a dichroic or pleochroic dye in a light modulating host in a solid polymer matrix, and wherein the appearance of the display unit is independent of the viewing angle.
