Jensen’s Procedure

2021
Monocular elevation deficiency (double elevator palsy) is the inability to elevate the eye in any direction of gaze, due to paresis of the superior rectus, inferior oblique, or both simultaneously. It may be variably accompanied by inferior rectus restriction. Monocular elevation deficiency is often associated with ptosis and Marcus-Gunn Jaw-Wink phenomenon. Surgery is used to correct abnormal head posture, restoration of cosmesis, or as part of amblyopia treatment. In cases of large angle hypotropia or restriction of elevation, the Jensen’s Procedure can be combined with an inferior rectus recession.
