Clinical Management of Tourette Syndrome with Clonidine
1986
The demonstration of clonidine’s effectiveness in Tourette syndrome (TS) (Ashanuddin et al.,1980; Cohen et al., 1979, 1980; Dorsey, 1981) substantially expanded the pharmacological options in the management of this condition. For the preceding decade, the only clearly effective medication was haloperidol, and before that, TS sufferers received a host of treatments ranging from psychotherapy to behavior modification to electroconvulsive treatment.
