RESEARCH NEWS. IMPROVED PRODUCTIVITY FROM NEW BLAST NOZZLE GEOMETRY

1988
This paper describes the relationship between nozzle geometry and air pressure in improving productivity. The Venturi nozzle, the laminar flow design nozzle, and the Bazooka style nozzle are described. A laboratory testing program was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of vaious nozzle designs: TLVE, a stock 3/8 in. diameter bore long venturi nozzle; T-159, a wide-entry throat, long venturi nozzle, size 6; T-125, a double venturi nozzle; T-156, a size No.6 specially modified bazooka nozzle. At the higher pressures, the bazooka and double venturi both outperformed the control nozzle. The bazooka had reduced back pressure. It achieves a significant productivity improvement by creating a larger blast pattern which simultaneously reduces back pressure.
