Density of solid argon at melting

Lattice parameters for crystalline argon along its melting line are reported with an estimated experimental uncertainty of 40 ppm. The X-ray data span the range of melting temperatures from 86.7 to 124.3 K. An upper limit of roughly 3 × 10−3 for vacancy concentrations along the melting line is obtained by comparing these data to bulk densities.
