Enfrentamento da enfermagem diante do processo de morte e morrer: revisão integrativa da literatura

OBJECTIVE: To understand the coping strategies used by nursing professionals in relation to the process of death and dying. METHODOLOGY: An integrative review of literature that has been searched in the LILACS, MEDLINE, BDENF and SCIELO databases of articles published from January 2008 to December 2018, using the descriptors Death, Coping Strategies and Nursing Professionals. The data was systematized using the Content Analysis technique. RESULTS: eight articles were analyzed in which the coping with the death and dying process was identified. With regard to strategies, we seek protection in faith and religiosity, understanding of the life cycle, emotional control, sharing of experiences, psychological support, employment in the caring process, and indifference and withdrawal. CONCLUSION: It is recognized, therefore, that the confrontation of the process of death and dying by the nursing professionals is extremely complex, in this sense, the need arises to better discuss this issue, through the expansion of discussions in professional training as well as in the work environment
