An experimental technique for 2-dimensional quantitative measurements of NO concentrations is presented by planar laser-induced fluorescence(PLIF). Various interferences such as Rayleigh scattering, O₂ and C atom fluorescences are minimized by filtering and careful choosing of the excitation-detection scheme. By point-by-point background correction, broadband O2 and pressure-broadened NO fluorescences are precisely eliminated even at high pressure, so that quantitative NO concentrations are successfully calibrated in laminar premixed C₃H_8/air burner flames and the constant-volume combustion chamber. In both cases, quick increasing of NO concentration is observed adjacent to the flame front.
