LONG-TERM BEHAVIOUR OF SHALLOW FOUNDATIONS. PREDICTIONS AND OBSERVATIONS. PROCEEDINGS OF THE ELEVENTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SOIL MECHANICS AND FOUNDATION ENGINEERING, SAN FRANCISCO, 12-16 AUGUST 1985

1985
The study described concerns the behaviour of full-scale shallow foundations on real soil. The sites chosen cover a wide range of soils frequently encountered in the foundations of structures. The experimental results of short-term ultimate vertical axial loading tests were compared to those obtained by the usual predictive techniques. Laws of time-related settlement variations were tested and compared with experimental results obtained on shallow foundations subjected to long-term constant loading. These settlements were compared with the provisions of in-situ test methods. For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD 287689. (TRRL)
