Synthesis of Poly(itaconic-co-sebacic anhydrides) and its Degradation Property

2008
A new kind of polyanhydrides, poly(itaconic-co-sebacic anhydrides), was successfully made from itaconic acid and sebacic acid. The products were characterized by thermogravimetry and differential thermoanalysis (TG/DTA), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and gel permeation chromatography(GPC). In vitro degradation of copolymers in phosphate buffer solutions was also investigated. The result shows that the degradation mechanism of the copolymers is first-order reaction, and its degradation velocity decreases with the ratio of sebacic acid increasing.
