FEA Simulations of Temperature Changes of Castings When Solidified and Cooled in Mould

The temperature distribution of casting in mould is a key factor affecting the quality of castings. In this paper, we try to get the Law of temperature distribution in the casting process by numerical simulation with software ANSYS. The whole process can be summarized as follows: creating mathematical model, setting the initial and boundary conditions of the mathematical model, analyzing the solidification time of the casting, making out the temperature distribution in the whole process, and evaluating the simulation results. The results indicated that there existed self tempering effect in the transitional section of the casting, and the temperature distribution of casting was close to actual production.
