Abstract THE AIM of the present investigation was to determine the effects on isolated rat hearts of microperfusion of a cardioplegic solution 1,2 containing 2,3-butanedione monoxime (BDM) and polyethylene glycol 20,000 daltons (PEG), gassed with different gas mixtures during preservation, and to compare it with the effects of simple cold storage (SCS).
