Directional Synthesis of CdX (X = S, Se, and Te) Thin Films for Solar Cell Application

Synthesis techniques and results of physical studies of the structural, optical, and energy properties of cadmium chalcogenides (CdS, CdSe, and CdTe) thin films deposited on the different substrates are presented. Using density functional theory, the change of the electronic subsystem parameters of the cadmium chalcogenides film is theoretically studied. The nature of the direct band gap of the CdS, CdSe, and CdTe films and the genesis of the energy bands are established.
