Method of Identification of Mineral Fibers Applied in Pavement in Tunnels and Their Characteristics under Scanning Electron Microscopy

There are various kinds of mineral fibers,which are difficult to be identifed.9 identification methods,such as observing,smelling,touching,chemical reacting,mechanical demarcating,size estimating,chemical composition estimating and micro observing,are presented.The appearance of basalt mineral fiber under scanning electron microscopy and the researching methods are introduced,with those applied in the tunnels on the west section of Shanghai-Chengdu highway as an example.Identification methods and countermeasures for the fake mineral fibers are as follows: there are obvious differences in the appearance and chemical compositions of mineral fibers under scanning electron microscopy;the rougher the mineral fiber,the better its adaptability to the pavement and the better the reinforcement effect.
