Clinical analysis of patients with diabetes mellitus combined with hyperthyroidism

Objective: To investigate the treatment and efficacy of the diabetes mellitus combined with hyperthyroidism. Methods: Sixty-eight cases of patients with diabetes mellitus combined with hyperthyroidism in our hospital in recent years were retrospectively analyzed, and then the clinical manifestation, treatment and efficacy of them were analyzed. Results: The fasting plasma glucose of the 68 cases all recovered to (5.4-6.9) mmol/L, 2 h PG maintaining in (7.8-11.2) mmol/L, the thyroid functions of 64 cases recovered to or close to the normal. The dosage of insulin of 39 cases decreased 15%-25% after the symptoms of hyperthyroidism were controlled. Conclusion: The diabetes mellitus and hyperthyroidism can interplay, and can attain satisfactory effect by combined treatment.
