Integration Technologies for the Assembly of Silicon Nanowire Devices

Semiconducting nanowires grown either by vapor-liquid-solid or vapor-solid synthesis appear promising for nanoscale sensing with emphasis to applications in the fields of chemistry and life sciences. Here, we report on integration technologies, recently developed, for facile and efficient silicon nanowire device assembly. The technologies comprise the synthesis, controlled transfer, and nanodiamond surface coatings, which ease the assembly of nanoscale sensors and sensor arrays with improved yield and performance.
