Research progress on TiO_2/AC composite photocatalyst

TiO2 is a catalyst which is universally used in the green wastewater treatment technology—photocatalytic oxidation process.In recent years, in view of the problems that TiO2 has low photocatalytic activity and is hard to be reclaimed and reused, loading it on activated carbon to acquire TiO2 / AC composite photocatalyst has become the focus of photocatalysis field.In these days, the effects of photocatalytic mechanism of TiO2 / AC, synergistic effect between TiO2 and AC, preparation methods of TiO2 / AC, crystalline style and load amount of TiO2, reagents, wastewater pH value and some other factors on the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 / AC has been deeply studied in China and aborad.The future research trend was indicated to be:on the one hand enchancing the combination fastness between TiO2 and AC to improve the utilization efficiency, on the other hand developing composite photocatalyst which has high catalytic activity under sunlight irradiation.
