Drug-Induced Liver Injury in Children: A Structured Approach to Diagnosis and Management
2014
Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) can be separated into idiosyncratic (unpredictable and without dose dependence) or intrinsic (predictable and dose dependent). This chapter is focused on the evaluation and management of idiosyncratic DILI. To help practitioners develop a standard approach for identifying DILI, we include a proposed algorithm for evaluation based on available information in adults and children with DILI (Fig. 1). Additional information is included to amplify on the algorithm and add information relevant to the evaluation and management of patients with DILI.
