ELECTROPOLYMERIZATION OF N-SUBSTITUTED CHIRAL PYRROLE IN CHIRALENVIRONMENT AND THE MICROSTRUCTURE OF THE POLYMER

2004
Electrochemical polymerization of the N-substituted pyrrole monomer, methyl (S)-(+)-2-(1H-pyrrol-yl) propionate in a chiral medium with (S)-(+)- camphor-10-sulfonic acid ((S)-(+)-CSA) or (R)-(-)- camphor -10-sulfonic acid ((R)-(-)-CSA).The obtained polymer films were characterized by cyclic voltammograms (CV),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS),infrared,Raman, circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopies and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).The enantioselective recognition properties of polymer were also investigated in the presence of enantiomers of camphorsulfonic acid as supporting electrolyte and doping agent.Chiral alkyl N-substituted polypyrrole micro-ribbons were generated electrochemically and stand upright on the working electrode surface. The ribbons have a length of 100~200 μm,a width of 20~50 μm and a thickness of 3~5 μm.
