Вплив споживання кропиви на ендотеліальну функцію та маркери серцево- судинного ризику в групах високого ризику: рандомізоване контрольоване дослідження

2013
The paper highlights results of randomized controlled non-blinded clinical trial investigating the effects of consumption of nettle (Urtica dіoica) in the form of water decoction (“tea”) on flow-mediated vasodilatation (FMD) in patients with coronary artery disease or its risk equivalent. In total, fifty-four patients were randomly assigned to take infused dried nettle leaves or hot water for 6-week follow-up period. There were no significant changes in FMD both in control group (6.68±3.54% baseline, 7.05±3.28% after 6 weeks) and nettle group (7.62±3.92 vs 5.90±2.33%, р=NS between groups). There were also no significant changes in blood pressure and serum lipid profile. The investigators conclude that consumption of nettle in the form of water decoction does not adversely influence FMD, blood pressure and lipid profile in patients with coronary artery disease or its risk equivalent. Key words: endothelium, flow-mediated vasodilatation, Urtica dioica
