The relationship between Caspase-3 and DFF45 expression in colorectal carcinoma tissue and its clinical significance

2008
Objective:To investigate the effect of Caspase-3 and DFF45 protein in the carcinogenesis and progression of human colorectal adenocarcinoma and identify their correlations with the invasion and metastasis of colorectal adenocarcinoma. Methods: The Caspase-3 and DFF45 proteins levels in 58 patients with colorectal carcinoma were detected by means of immunohistochemistry. Results: In 58 cases of colorectal adenocarcinoma, the positive rates of Caspase-3 and DFF45 proteins were 34.5% and 46.6% respectively. The positive expression of Caspase-3 and DFF45 protein was not associated with the pathological types and Dukes stage (P0.05),but was highly associated with cellular differentiation degree and lymph node metastasis(P0.05).In the 58 cases,a positive correlation was present between Caspase-3 and DFF45 protein expression(r=0.414,P=0.001). Conclusion: The down-regulation of Caspase-3 and DFF45 may contribute to tumor growth and lymph node metastasis in colorectal adenocarcinoma.
