There is provided a method emitting for operating an organic light device (100), wherein the organic light emitting device (100) having a first electrode (2) and a second electrode (3), between which an organic functional layer stack (4) at least one organic light emitting layer (5) is arranged, wherein the first and second electrodes (2, 3) and the organic functional layer stack (4) are formed over a large area and wherein the first electrode (2) via at least two electrical connection elements (71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78) is electrically contacted in the edge regions, in which (to the at least two electrical connection elements 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78) have different electrical voltages are applied and varying the different voltages in time. Furthermore, a light emitting device (101, 102) is provided for performing the method.
