Desenvolvimento de revistas científicas em mídia digital – o caso da Revista Produção Online

O artigo descreve a elaboracao do primeiro periodico cientifico, em midia digital, da area de engenharia de producao – a revista cientifica Producao Online, do Curso de Pos-graduacao da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Explicitam-se as acoes desenvolvidas para sua manutencao, como instrumento de comunicacao cientifica em suporte digital. Relata-se todo o processo de producao cientifica, desde o recebimento do artigo ate sua publicacao eletronica. Chama-se a atencao para a proposta de oferecer a comunidade cientifica uma revista eletronica, com baixos custos em relacao a publicacao em meio impresso, possibilitando a divulgacao das pesquisas cientificas em tempo real, e ao mesmo tempo oferecer mecanismos eletronicos que agilizem o processo de submissao, avaliacao e leitura dos artigos, facilitando a rapida circulacao do conhecimento cientifico. Development of scientific journals in digital media – the case of Producao Online Journal Abstract This article describes the creation of the very first scientific electronic journal of Industrial Engineering in Brazil, making explicit all the actions that were taken to keep this journal working as an alternative for publishing scientific material on the web. The Journal Producao Online is put out by the Production Engineering Department of Santa Catarina´s Federal University. This article also draws attention to the fact that publishing through this media has lower costs than printed journals, as well as making scientific publication faster. The electronic tools that have been used in this experience help to select articles to be published and are also a way of making it easier for researchers to read and submit articles to this journal as well as improving scientific communication.
