Experimental Study on Electronically Controlled High-pressure Common Rail Diesel Engine Fueled with Biodiesel

2010
On an electronically controlled high-pressure common rail diesel engine and a car equipped with the same engine, the performance tests about biodiesel-diesel blends under different mixing ratios were carried out.Based on different blends, the power, economy and emission performance of diesel engine at different speeds and loads were analyzed. The results show that, compared with diesel, biodiesel has the lower effective energy consumption and the higher NOx emission at the speed of 2 200 r/min.At medium and low load, the soot emissions between them are almost the same, but the HC emission of biodiesel is lower. At high load, the HC emissions between them are almost the same, but the soot emission is lower. The CO emission always keeps constant. At full load, the power output increases slightly, the HC and smoke emissions decrease and the CO and NOx emissions increase when the engine is fueled with biodiesel.
