ESA’s Earth Observation Strategy and Copernicus

In 2015, ESA adopted a new ESA Earth Observation Strategy 2040. The former strategy had been written some 20 years ago and was closely linked to the concept of the Living Planet Programme. The new strategy responds to societal challenges such as food, water, energy, climate and civil security, while fully embracing the novel opportunities of the ICT revolution.
