A new method to search for high energy gamma rays by track‐calorimeter detectors at a high mountain

We have carried out a Monte Carlo simulation to look for a possibility if we can observe high energy gamma rays in case that we set tracking detectors which have calorimeters underneath of them at very high altitude of 5200 m such as Mt. Chacaltaya. Geomagnetic field effect is taken into account in this simulation. Good advantage to set the detectors at such a mountain are that detection area can be easily taken about 10 to 100 times larger than the air borne experiment, an observation time can be taken about 100 to 1000 times, background flux can be reduced to 0.1 times. As a result we obtained a very good possibility to detect the gamma rays with energies around several hundred GeV although they depend on the energy spectrum of the sources.
