An Improved Algorithm for Intervisibility Judgment Based on RSG

The intervisibility judgment algorithm is one of the most important algorithms in military simulation system. In view of the problem that the existing intervisibility algorithms are inefficient and do not consider the influence of the curvature of the earth. This paper improves the existing intervisibility algorithm through calculating the slope of the connection line of the sight point and target point before selecting sampling points. According to the different slopes, different sampling strategies are adopted, and the slope determination method is used to replace the original altitude data determination method, in addition, the influence of the curvature of the earth is also incorporated into the intervisibility judgment algorithm. The improved algorithm proposed in this paper avoids complicated interpolation calculation process, and the sampling process is more flexible. The experimental results show that the improved intervisibility algorithm can effectively improve the operating efficiency, shorten the system runtime, and improve the accuracy of the intervisibility judgment.
