Thyroid Function and Lipid Profile on the Hormonal Contraceptives Users with Goiter

Background: Thyroid dysfunction and the use of hormonal contraceptives could heighten the risk of cardiovascular complications, in addition to the known risk factors. Thyroid gland impaired function can cause clinical manifestations of goiter. Objective: This study aims to estimate the relation between thyroid function, hormonal contraception use, and lipid status as the indicator for the risk of CVD. Method: Cross-sectional study of 83 women with goiter (19 women taking DMPA contraceptives and 64 women taking non-hormonal contraceptives) who came to IDD research and development clinic.
