Investigation of light-induced drift of lithium vapor in the case of far removed cell walls

Abstract The spatial distribution of lithium vapor, caused by light-induced drift (LID) in the case of far removed cell walls was studied. The numerical solution of the equation describing LID for arbitrary values of the drift velocity in the given conditions, was carried out. The experimental results were compared with the numerical solution of the spatial distribution of lithium vapor, and a value of u 0 = 6.8 ± 1.3 m/s was found for the drift velocity. The results of this work show that the case of far removed cell walls is very convenient for the investigation of LID.
