Selected Topics in Infrastructure and Information Assurance (Panel)

1999
Since 1994 and the explosive growth of the Internet, there has been a grow-ing awareness of the need for more research and development activities directed at protecting networked information systems and those critical national infrastructures that are dependent up such systems. Within the U.S. this awareness sparked an increase in R& D planning activity and led to exploration of future R& D requirements. Viewpoints of Infrastructure amp Information Assurance R& D planning activities (both past and present) were presented and some of the future requirements and planning activities that are underway to address them were discussed. Mr. Mayfield presented various aspects of the U.S. Federal Government’s Infrastructure and Information Assurance R& D Program development. Topics included Infrastructure Assurance, High Confidence Systems, and Information Technology for the 21st Century. Further details of this presentation are included herein.
