The invention belongs to the field of oil production technology for oil fields, and particularly relates to a self-adaptive water control string for oil wells, which comprises a tubing, a guide plug and a release sub, the guide plug is arranged at the end of the tubing, the release sub is arranged on the tubing, a self-adaptive water control device is arranged in an interval between the guide plug and the release sub, and the self-adaptive water control device comprises an underground liquid production monitor and a self-adjusting control valve which are connected. The invention also provides a self-adaptive water control method for oil wells, the steps of which are as follows: (1) assembly of the self-adaptive water control string; (2) running of the self-adaptive water control string; (3) self-adaptive water control. The invention can effectively prevent water from flowing into other intervals due to the water breakthrough of one interval to affect the liquid output of the intervals in the process of oil well production, meanwhile, a water location and shutoff measure for the water breakthrough of an oil well does not need to be taken, consequently, on-site construction cost is reduced, and the oil production rate is increased by up to 5 percent.
