Adaptación al español del cuestionario competencia socioemocional escala de calificación docente

2018
In the current globalized world teachers need to adapt to the diverse classroom. Socio-emotional competence (SEC), the ability to regulate ones emotions according to the social context, is an important factor that influences academic motivation and builds inclusiveness. Unfortunately there are limited instruments to measure these competences and the few that exists are in English. To address this issue, we translated the Social Emotional Competence Teacher Rating Scale (SECTRS) and used the teacher’s Burnout Inventory and the Cultural Sensibility (CS) Scale for validation (n=215). Confirmatory factor analyses demonstrated that a 4 factor model with a 2nd order factor reached acceptable fit indexes (EQS v. 6). The scale was reliable (α =.87) and it was associated with burnout and CS (SPSS v. 21). This suggests that teachers with greater capacity to cope with their emotions report less burnout and more CS. Our results will aid a better understanding of teacher SEC and the development of better educational models and improved teaching strategies.
