Calculation of the Zeeman effect in the n2S12, n2P12, and n2P32 (n = 2,3,4, and 5) states of the lithium atom

1998
Abstract The g J -factors of the n 2 S 1 2 , n 2 P 1 2 , and n 2 P 3 2 ( n = 2, 3, 4, and 5) states of the lithium atom are calculated by using the full-core plus correlation method. The relativistic correction to order α 2 (a.u.) and the effect of the motion of the center of mass are treated by using first-order perturbation theory. For the 2 2 S 1 2 state, our result, 2.00230101, agrees more closely with experimental data, 2.00230100(64), than previous theoretical results. The g J -factor values of other low-lying excited states for Li are also given.
