Polydentat ligand fullerenol

2006
Results presented in this paper are gained through research of synthesis and physical determination of Fe3+ complexes with polydentat ligand fullerenol C60(OH)24. Fullerenol is a water soluble with symetriccal arrangement of hydroxyl (OH) grups on a C60 sphere. In acid enviorment in concentration range from 0.0100 mol/dm3 to 0.3525 mol/dm3 solution of Fe3+ is precipitated with fullerenol solution which had a concentration range from 2.215 10-3 mol/dm3 to 7.088 10-3 mol/dm3. DSC analyses of complex showed dominant endothermic peak at t=142.67oC with ΔH=-5949.03 mJ (loss of kovalent bonds of hydroxylic groups and water) and a smaller peak at t=434.79oC with ΔH=-283.10 mJ (sublimation of C60). Residue after burning was 82.95% (complexed and ocluded iron in Fe2O3 form). IR spectar of the formed complex is identical with fullerenol spectar. On the basis of obtained preliminary experimental results, the sructure of mixed cross-linked complex [Fe(fullerenol)n(H2O)m]3+[Fe(H2O)6]3+ is assumed with molar ratio fullerenol:Fe3+=1:77,65.
