MAJOR CHALLENGES OF INVESTORS IN INDIAN EQUITY MARKET - A STUDY ON RETAIL INVESTORS IN VISAKHAPATNAM CITY

The Indian Equity Market has witnessed a steady fall in the retail investors’ participation in the last few years. Retail Investors are highly skeptic about making fresh investments in equity through primary and also secondary markets. A significant fall in the share of retail investors in the daily turnover of stock markets and the poor performance of the primary market in the year 2013 signals the declining interest of retail investors towards equity market. In this context the present study focuses on the major challenges of the retail investors in Indian Capital Market, the results of the study provides better inputs for the policy makers to strengthen the investors’ confidence and increase their participation in the equity market.
