Investigation on properties of bahunia racemosa fiber and egg shell powder reinforced polymer composite

2020
Abstract To improve the behavior of the polymers at different loading conditions, various types of fibers are reinforced into the polymer matrix. The properties of the composite depend upon various factors that influence them. The important factors are the compatibility nature of the fibers with the matrix and the defect free manufacturing of the composites. In this work, the bahunia racemosa fibers are extracted and reinforced into the epoxy matrix and the composite is filled with the egg shell powder to study the effect of the egg shell inclusion. Egg shell generally has the property to resist water and it will improve the hardness and corrosion resistance. The reinforcement and filler addition levels are proposed by Taguchi’s experimental design through MINITAB software. The composites are produced through hand layup process and tested as per the standards. The responses were optimized and from ANOVA analysis the significance of each factor can be determined.
