Objective: To describe the indicators that characterize the satisfaction of nursing workers, in the surgical clinic of a public hospital, located in Belem-PA. Specifically, to identify everyday factors that motivate nursing job satisfaction. Methods: An exploratory study, with a qualitative approach, had the nursing team as participants, that is, nurses and nursing technicians from the three shifts, morning, afternoon, and night of a surgical clinic at the hospital. The data produced were administered a questionnaire to the participants. Data analysis was based on a descriptive qualitative approach. Results: Results showed a predominantly female nursing team and two thematic categories: Motivational factors in nursing work and indicators of satisfaction in nursing work. It was concluded that the motivational factors are related to remuneration, valuation and professional and personal recognition, among others and that the indicators of satisfaction in nursing work are related to the institutional management system and the unit in all its aspects. Conclusion: The present study fulfilled its objective of characterizing worker satisfaction as a management indicator for nursing, identifying indicators of job satisfaction, as well as elements that constitute motivational factors in nursing work.
