Localization and Molecular Genetic Analysis of Symbiotic Nitrogen Fixation Genes in Rhizobium Meliloti

1983
The soil bacterium Rhizobium meliloti fixes molecular nitrogen after establishment of a symbiotic association with the plant host Medigaco sativa. Certain genes coding for the development of this symbiosis reside in the bacterium, others are carried by the plant partner. This study was devoted to localize and identify symbiotic nitrogen fixation genes in the bacterium Rhizobium meliloti strain 41.
