Mentor/MacVideo: A Videodisc Authoring System for Educators Who are Not Computer Specialists

1987
Mentor/MacVideo is a videodisc authoring system. It is designed for use by educators who know little or nothing about computers; no programming knowledge is needed to construct a course. Further, MacVideo enables authors to perform videodisc editing without using frame numbers. Mentor supports relational format, a method of organizing three concepts that permit the student to explore the concepts in any order, based on how much of the material has been understood at that point. Mentor also supports linear format, where the underlying concept is multi-way branching. The system is currently in use in a number of universities and medical institutes.
