The Effect of Laser Treatment on Microstructure and Property of 40Cr Steel

Surface treatment of 40Cr steel as quenching and tempering is conducted by various laser heat treatment processes in order to improve hardness and wear resistance of 40Cr steel.The experiments indicate that the ideal technological parameters are laser power 1000 W,speed of scan 6 mm/s,spot diameter of 4 mm,and microstructures analysis,micro-harness are measured in the process.The results show that laser treatment can observably increase the surface hardness,the thickness of the harden layers reaches 500 μm.
