Some peculiarities of the development of soil physics in Russia

Soil agrophysics and the concept of soil hydrological constants are the most deeply developed branches of soil physics in Russia. Their advantages and challenges are analyzed in the context of the modern state of soil physics in the world. Some typical drawbacks of Russian systems of classification of soil physical properties are discussed.
