Bioactive Molecules of the Human Microbiome: Skin, Respiratory Tract, Intestine

2019
Abstract The human microbiome is a source of thousands of small molecules with potential biological activity. Most of the molecules are still unknown, and a plethora of cellular interactions and useful applications of these molecules and their pathways exists, and should be investigated in detail. In this chapter, we will address some of the current knowledge on the bioactive molecules from the human skin, respiratory tract, and gut microbiome, together with their potential diagnostic and therapeutic value.
