농축산미생물배양실 배양효율 및 오염실태 조사

Agricultural microorganism culture rooms have been established to provide various microorganisms to farmers. Currently, more than 130 centers which were operated by Agricultural Technology & Extension Center under each local government in nationwide. Major microorganisms, which are cultivated by the culture rooms, are Bacillus, Rhodobacter, Lactobacillus, Saccharomyces, Nitromonas. Contamination during cultivation is a common problem and there is no previous report available, which inspected the quality and quantity of the culture rooms. Therefore, in this study we investigated over-all quality of the culture rooms in terms of microbiological contamination. In culture preparation room showed high concentrations rate of bacteria(104 CFU/m3) and fungi(104 CFU/m3), which are potentially high risk of contamination, were discovered. Some long-term stock microorganisms for scale-up cultures were identified differently due to contamination. Yeast long-term stock was identified as a food poisoning bacteria. In general, most of the center mixed and cultured several microorganisms together without consideration of the microorganism’s characteristics. Some of industrial scale media for large scale culture were not able to grow a microorganism. Additionally, human pathogens Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus cereus, Escherichia coli were contaminated in end-product of scale-up cultures. Our results suggested that serious contamination could adversely affect employee's health, farmers’ health and agricultural economy. These problems should be improved through the input of microorganism expert or the training of the non-expert public servant.
