The effect of sited lattice vacancies on the elastic constants of Hg5Ga2Te8

Abstract Elastic constant data for Hg 5 Ga 2 Te 8 single crystals support a suggestion that the presence of ordered vacancies dominates elastic behaviour and that, in particular, there is a linear relationship between reduced compressibility and vacancy concentration.
