Research on Control Measures for Steady-State Power Frequency Overvoltage of Half-Wavelength Transmission Lines

2019
The half-wavelength transmission line (HWTL) is a forward-looking and competitive solution for transcontinental and transnational power transmission. The problem of steady-state power frequency overvoltage of HWTL is serious. It is a matter of great concern in the safety and stability analysis of the power system connected with the HWTL. In this paper, for the problem of steady-state power frequency overvoltage of HWTL, three control measures, i.e. tripping off generating units in the sending system, fast DC modulation, and improving the power factor of the receiving-end of the HWTL, are proposed. The theoretical analysis is given, and the effectiveness of the three control measures is confirmed by an example of a large power system connected with HWTL. The research enriches the theory of HWTL and has great significance in practical guiding.
