Stability and transformation of dislocation cell structure in deformed 99.999 wt.% Al☆

1989
Abstract Rolled aluminium sheets subjected to various heat treatments were observed by transmission electron microscopy to study the thermal stability of dislocation structures in cold-worked metals. Experiments indicate that dislocation cell structures remain stable even when the specimens are recrystallized during annealing at temperatures as high as 600°C. Different thicknesses of the specimen correspond to different types of high-temperature stable dislocation configurations. Temperature and specimen dimensions are two major factors controlling dislocation structure stability. These two factors are interrelated. Results are discussed concerning mechanical properties and cell constitution.
