A Novel Methodology to Enhance Business Alignment Using Quantitative QFD and Business Modeling Tools

The intensive implementation of the Quality function deployment (QFD) in the design of projects with six sigma initiatives exposed some problems that enterprises faced while mapping the customer needs and expectations into engineering characteristics. These problems are revealed in the alignment of business strategies to the customer expectations. This paper deals with the issue of strategic planning in which QFD is used to assess the alignment between customer requirements and business strategies. A business alignment clock along with a new framework will be introduced that integrates enterprise business architecture (EBA) with QFD. Relationships inside the QFD matrix will be quantitatively defined using various multivariate data analysis techniques. The results of these relationships will be exploited to generate competitive priorities and verify the consistency with the enterprise action plans.
