Stool samples versus nasopharyngeal specimens for the initial diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Some practionners are tempted to use stool samples, as an easier alternative to nasopharyngeal specimens (NPS) for initial diagnosis of COVID-19. This report shows that stool samples cannot be used as alternative to NPS for the initial diagnosis of COVID-19, but as an additional tool in patients presenting with gastrointestinal symptoms.
