Pathogenesis of lipid metabolism disorders in patients with atherosclerosis of the vessels of the lower limbs

1989
: The bile secretory function of the liver in patients with hyperlipoproteinemia complicated by atherosclerosis of the vessels of the lower extremities was studied. It was established, that irrespective of the type of hyperlipoproteinemia in patients, the impairement in the cholate-forming and cholesterin-excreting functions of the liver was present. This aggravated the course of atherosclerosis. The content of common bile acids in patients was, in average, 1-5-fold lower than in normal subjects. The more considerable decrease in the quantity of trihydroxycholanic acids when compared to the dihydroxycholanic ones indicates the inhibition of the processes of synthesis of the bile acids from cholesterin in the hepatocytes in patients with hyperlipoproteinemia.
