Modeling of diode clamped inverter using SPWM technique

Certainly many applications in industrial field have begun to require nowadays high power. However some industrial appliances require for their operation medium or low power. So using a high power source for all types of loads may be a benefic solution to some motors, while it makes damage for other loads. For this reason multilevel inverter has been introduced as an alternative in both high power and medium voltage situations. This paper is state of the art of multilevel inverters and specially the Diode clamped inverter topology, and then it presents the most common technique of control which is the SPWM strategy. It shows also the importance of increasing the level of the inverter and its impact on the elimination of harmonics.
