Decision-making systems based on FWQI to assess of drinking water in Basrah - Iraq

2021
Freshwater sources in Basra city in the south of Iraq have become scarce and polluted. There are several physical, chemical and biological factors that determine the portability of water. Engineering challenges in solving environmental problems are increasingly being worked using artificial intelligence (AI) computing methods. In order to assess the applicability of this tool, this paper presents the development of a new water quality index based on the fuzzy water quality index (fuzzy water quality index -FWQI). For measurement of water quality parameters, water samples were taken from twenty water stations located in the centers and outskirts of the province of Basra included the following incomes: acidity level, electrical conductivity, turbidity, temperature, and basal or alkaline. The results revealed the ability of the proposed FWQI to evaluate water quality during the study period compared to other reference indexes. Finally, the proposed indicator can be a useful tool for decision-making and the environment.
